2019-2020 budget summaries

Mar. 22nd, 2019

On March 19, the federal government tabled its latest budget for the 2019-2020 fiscal year, the last budget before the next federal election. The provincial government tabled its budget on March 21. In conjunction with these budget tablings we are sending you two notes compiled by Paradigme, public affairs, our government relations agency.

The document summarizes the provincial budget measures of relevance to our industry (French only).  Overall, they contain a fair amount of good news, notably in addressing the requests submitted by the QFMA in conjunction with the pre-budget consultations. These annual consultations allow the Ministry of Finance to assess the requests and needs of the various groups and clientele in Québec.
The document provides a summary of the federal government measures (French only) that affect the manufacturing sector. While the furniture manufacturing sector isn’t explicitly named, some of the measures are of pertinence for the industry, notably in the area of manpower.

We are committed to staying on top of any new developments that may arise from subsequent budget announcements, and if need be, we will advise you of these developments as quickly as we can.
