In recent years, the environment has become a growing concern for governments and Quebecers alike, and legislation and regulations have become increasingly strict across all industries. As such, the QFMA monitors developments closely and, if necessary, intervenes to defend the interests of its members when changes are likely to significantly affect their activities.
For example, following months of hard work, the QFMA succeeded in postponing the adoption of new regulations on air quality so that further impact studies could be carried out and potentially prevent furniture manufacturers from having to invest heavily in pollution control equipment when other solutions exist. The QFMA even went so far as to have the study funded by the government.
The QFMA is also a member of the Conseil patronal de l’environnement du Québec (CPEQ) and sits on several committees.
